| Core Tip |
This minireview examines the spleen–liver axis as an emerging framework for immune, metabolic and portal-hemodynamic interactions. Direct molecular and cellular evidence is strongest for selected spleen-to-liver pathways and is predominantly preclinical. Established reverse effects are principally hemodynamic. Spleen size, stiffness and blood-based measurements may help define research phenotypes, but their added clinical value requires prospective validation. The review distinguishes these proposed applications from established portal-hypertension assessment and explains how splenic biology intersects with the gut-liver axis. |
