| Core Tip |
This systematic review and meta-analysis applied a restrictive chronic kidney disease (CKD)-specific framework to randomized evidence, requiring each analyzed population to meet predefined CKD criteria and explicitly accounting for overlap among publications from the same parent trial. Thirteen publications were eligible, but only three independent parent populations informed the two primary meta-analyses. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists showed a numerically favorable but statistically nonsignificant association with the composite kidney outcome, while annual estimated glomerular filtration rate slope was also nonsignificant. Other renal and cardiovascular outcomes could not be pooled because comparable independent CKD-specific estimates were unavailable. The findings emphasize the limited precision of the current evidence base. |
