"What impressed me most throughout the submission and publication process was the editorial office's sense of responsibility and attention to detail. Every email inquiry received a prompt and patient response. After submission, the editors carefully checked the manuscript page by page—pointing out even minor issues in reference punctuation and figure numbering. Such rigor exceeded my expectations. The reviewers' comments were professional and insightful; although they were not always easy to address, each suggestion truly targeted the core weaknesses of the paper, and the revisions significantly improved the final quality. The entire workflow was efficient, with timely updates via both the system status and email notifications at every stage, which provided me with great peace of mind. In summary, the editorial team worked efficiently and responsibly, making this a very smooth and positive publishing experience."

"It is deeply gratifying to see our multicenter retrospective cohort study on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Nigeria published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology. This work represents a collaborative effort spanning multiple tertiary centers across the country, and the publication journey was one of rigorous intellectual refinement.
The peer-review process at WJGO was thorough and constructive. The reviewers engaged critically with our methodology—challenging us to strengthen the statistical analysis, clarify our inclusion criteria across heterogeneous hospital records, and expand the discussion on how our findings compare with emerging HCC patterns in sub-Saharan Africa. Each round of revision sharpened the manuscript, ensuring the data we present on HCC prevalence, risk factors, and treatment outcomes is both robust and clinically meaningful.
From submission to final acceptance, the editorial team maintained clear communication and reasonable turnaround times, which is especially appreciated when coordinating responses across multiple authors with demanding clinical schedules. The single-blind review process allowed honest, detailed feedback that improved the manuscript considerably.
We hope this work contributes meaningfully to the evidence base on HCC in Nigeria—a disease that remains under-characterized in our region despite its heavy burden—and encourages further multicenter collaborative research across West Africa."

"The journal’s submission and editorial workflow was difficult to navigate and unnecessarily time-consuming. The overall processing timeline appeared excessively prolonged, with limited efficiency in communication and manuscript handling. A particularly concerning aspect of the process was being presented with the option to transfer the manuscript to another journal during review, with the implication that refusal could result in rejection, which created an uncomfortable experience for authors. Additionally, the formatting requirements felt outdated and overly rigid, requiring authors to complete several unnecessary administrative and formatting steps that added complexity without clearly improving the scientific review process. Overall, while the journal may maintain academic standards, the submission experience itself was cumbersome and could benefit significantly from modernization, clearer workflows, and a more author-friendly review system."

"1. One area for improvement is the relatively long interval between manuscript acceptance and final publication. A shorter processing and publication timeline would help authors disseminate their research findings more efficiently and in a more timely manner.
2. It would be highly beneficial if the journal could be indexed in major databases such as PubMed or Scopus in the future. This would increase the journal’s visibility, accessibility, and academic impact within the international research community.
3. The “Checklist for Authors to Revise a Manuscript” is quite detailed and somewhat complicated to follow. Simplifying or streamlining the checklist format may improve clarity and make the revision process more convenient for authors."

"The Journal's operations are generally very good. But the time lag from acceptance to publication is somehow long. My manuscript was accepted since February and only published online in May, a period of about 3 months. This is long. My previous papers did not take this long. Efforts should be made to shorten this period in future."

"We are happy with the submission. I hope that y the editor can provide us with additional invited papers. We look forward to working with BPG. The reviewing process needs work. It takes numerous months before reviewers are found. The system could be improved by slimlining the entire submission process. Other journals take 1-2 for complete publication."
