Core Tip |
The identification of reliable biomarkers for early stratification of disease severity is essential in the management of acute pancreatitis (AP). Phospholipase D2 (PLD2), a pivotal regulator of neutrophil migration and inflammatory responses, has emerged as a promising candidate biomarker that may transform AP management by integrating molecular diagnostics with precision medicine. However, several challenges persist, including large-scale validation studies, functional investigations to establish causation, and standardization of measurement protocols. Consequently, it is imperative to critically examine and rigorously validate the role of PLD2 to ensure its effectiveness in improving patient outcomes. |
