Core Tip Diabetic Ketoacidosis is the most common life-threatening acute complication of uncontrolled hyperglycemia. Concurrent presence of co-morbid conditions in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis can further worsen the clinical scenario. Standard guidelines are there in the literature for treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. However, management of these high-risk patients need careful modifications from the standard treatment protocol, which has been reviewed extensively in this novel article. In our review, we have summarized the management principles of diabetic ketoacidosis in co-morbid conditions, in special population (children, pregnancy and elderly) and in different atypical forms (Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis- Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State overlap).
