Core Tip |
Bilateral adrenocortical adenomas (BAAs) causing adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-independent Cushing syndrome (CS) are rare; up to now, less than 40 BAAs cases have been reported. The accurate diagnosis and evaluation of BAAs are critical for determining optimal treatment options. We reported a rare case of BAAs causing ACTH-independent CS, diagnosed with adrenal vein sampling (AVS) and computed tomography before surgery. The patient underwent bilateral retroperitoneoscopy adenomectomy and was treated with glucocorticoid replacement. Our case indicates that the role of AVS for obtaining information on the functional state of bilateral adrenal adenomas before surgery in BAAs is of great significance. |
