Core Tip |
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) has been developed as an alternative means of biliary drainage for malignant biliary obstruction. EUS-BD must replace percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage as the salvage procedure of choice in failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography when endoscopic expertise is available. The advent of novel all-in-one EUS-BD specific devices, as well as the growing experience and training of endosonographers are promising for the development of EUS-BD as a first-line technique. |
