| Core Tip |
Only by having a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic liver disease can appropriate and meaningful diagnostic targets for research studies be identified. For clinicians who are not engaged in laboratory research this also requires a revision of basic anatomy, physiology and immunology. In this review article we have attempted to go “back to basics” to enable liver specific pathophysiology to be contextualised thereby allowing clinicians who are not engaged in laboratory practice to engage in translational research. |
