Core Tip |
The prevalence of liver diseases has been rising worldwide, especially non-alcoholic fatty liver disease that is associated with increasingly urbanized lifestyles and dietary changes. Effective and cost-efficient drugs and medicine food homology are needed in concert with improving liver health. Marine sources are rich and play an important role in the generation of unique drugs. A number of marine-derived compounds are proven to improve lipid metabolism, modulate the gut microbiota, prevent reactive oxygen species formation, and possess anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities, which means that they can be an invaluable source for the discovery of new compounds for the prevention and treatment of liver diseases. |
