Core Tip |
A discrepancy may exist between the diagnosis using endoscopic forceps biopsies (EFB) samples and totally resected specimens because only a small portion is sampled. Considering the risk of missing a cancer diagnosis, it is necessary to identify morphological characteristics on endoscopy that suggest coexisting cancer in patients diagnosed with high-grade neoplasia (HGN) on initial EFB. HGN with a red color change or mucosal ulceration correlated with the presence of gastric cancer. Characteristic endoscopic findings suggesting gastric cancer may help to determine the diagnosis and guide treatment in patients with HGN. |
