| Key Words |
Gastrointestinal endoscopy; Guideline; Clinical trial; Bibliometric analysis; Quality of study |
| Core Tip |
The present study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of top 100 cited articles in this field. The primary findings include: (1) The guidelines (52%) and clinical trials (37%) are the main article types, and average publication year of the guidelines is much later than that of the clinical trials (2015 vs 1998); (2) Top journals in medicine, such as the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA, also reported studies in this field; and (3) The hot spots of involved diseases include neoplasm or cancer-related diseases, inflammatory diseases, obstructive diseases, gastrointestinal hemorrhage and ulcer. Researchers should attach importance to the unbalance of the highly cited guidelines and clinical trials on gastrointestinal endoscopy. |
