Core Tip |
Systemic immune-inflammatory diseases are characterized by the simultaneous involvement of different organs and systems with a high risk of a fatal outcome. Often these patients are required to be admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) department. Early predictors of the fatal outcome at the moment of ICU admission are subjects for possible modification to improve the outcomes. Elder age, longer time before ICU admission, longer staying in the ICU, preceding immune-suppressive therapy, and developing invasive mycosis are predictors of unfavorable outcomes. The preventive measure should be set up to decrease the lethality in such patients. |
