Core Tip |
Most patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) experience malnutrition during their illness, resulting from both the disease and the treatment. Assessing the nutritional status of these patients is crucial due to its negative impact on treatment outcomes. Our objective was to establish the phase angle (PA) as a prognostic indicator for survival in mCRC patients. Our findings indicate that patients with a high PA (≥ 4.60°) have a considerably longer median progression-free survival during first-line treatment. PA, assessed using a bioelectrical impedance analysis scale, is a non-invasive and easily obtainable measure that can serve as an independent prognostic factor for survival in managing mCRC. |
