| Core Tip |
The present retrospective study evaluates inflammatory indicators' predictive significance for relapse-free survival in gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) patients utilising a nomogram-based technique. The author tried to associate the test preoperative inflammatory indicators with the recurrence-free survival in gastrointestinal stromal tumour patients. The study created a GIST prognostic nomogram using inflammatory markers, but the author failed to mention the limitation(s) and its possible effect on the outcome of the GIST prognosis. The inclusion and exclusion criteria should be broad enough to minimise the false positive effects of immune marker levels in test samples. Normalisation of inflammatory markers in response to different chemotherapeutic drug(s) is also an important aspect to get a stable prognostic outcome in GIST patients. |
