| Core Tip |
Gastrointestinal malignancies, more specifically pancreatobiliary and gastroesophageal cancers, harbor a bad prognosis mainly because tumors are frequently diagnosed in an advanced stage. Most of the tumors of the digestive tract associate anorexia-cachexia syndrome as well as malnutrition. Inflammation is a key feature of neoplasic proliferation and gut microbiome may have an interplay in inflammation and outcomes of these patients. In this article, we want to address this association and the impact of nutritional strategies in patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. |
