The expression of profilin-1 (PFN1) has been detected in many types of human cancers and has also been associated with tumor malignancy. However, the role of PFN1 in gastric carcinoma is unclear. The results of the present study suggest an important role for PFN1 in gastric cancer. PFN1 is overexpressed in gastric cancer, associated with tumor infiltration, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage. Furthermore, we demonstrated that PFN1 silencing inhibits gastric cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion through the integrin β1/focal adhesion kinase pathway. |
