| Core Tip |
Rutaecarpine (Rut) is a major bioactive compound with a broad spectrum of pharmacological properties. Our previous study demonstrated that Rut significantly alleviated pancreatic inflammation and necrosis in acute pancreatitis (AP) rat models, primarily through a calcitonin gene-related peptide-dependent manner involving the suppression of inflammatory signaling pathways. However, given the multifactorial pathogenesis of AP and Rut’s inherent polypharmacological properties, the precise molecular mechanisms responsible for its protective effects warrant further investigation. Thus, based on the original research, this study uncovers a previously unrecognized mechanism of Rut (enhancer of zeste homolog 2-dependent F-box and WD repeat domain containing 11 suppression) and provides evidence that traditional Chinese medicine can target epigenetic reprogramming in AP. |
