| Core Tip |
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a potential complication after heart transplant surgery and various patient demographics and comorbidities including intraoperative, perioperative, and postoperative interventions might contribute to the development of AKI and the need for renal dialysis. Thus, individualized assessment of risk factors is encouraged prior to considering patients for heart transplant to reduce mortality and worse in-patient outcomes particularly related to renal function. |
