Core Tip |
With the developments in medical technology and increased surgical experience, advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures are performed successfully. Laparoscopic abdominal surgery is one of the best examples of advanced laparoscopic surgery (LS). However, it is associated with systemic and splanchnic hemodynamic alterations. Inadequate splanchnic perfusion in critically ill patients is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. For a safe and effective approach in LS, the anatomy and pathophysiology of the splanchnic circulation (SC), and surgical outcomes should be understood. The aim of this review was to evaluate the effects of LS on the SC. |
