| Core Tip |
This retrospective study investigates adult mature cystic sacrococcygeal teratomas, a rare entity often lacking standardized treatment guidelines. Among 64 surgically treated patients, tumor size ≥ 10 cm, Altman type III/IV, and blood loss ≥ 400 mL are identified as independent risk factors for postoperative dysfunction. Failure to resect the sacrococcyx significantly increases recurrence risk. Notably, surgical approach does not affect outcomes. These findings offer important guidance for individualized surgical planning and functional preservation in this uncommon but clinically challenging tumor. |
