Core Tip |
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are the most common gastrointestinal (GI) tract tumors of mesenchymal origin. Stromal tumors of extragastrointestinal origin are termed extragastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) and are not associated with the walls of GI tubular organs or the serosal walls. The pancreas is among the organs that are rarely the site of origin, and according our knowledge, about 30 cases of pancreatic EGISTs have been reported to date. In this study, we reviewed studies on pancreatic EGISTs and report a case of pancreatic head EGIST.
