This prospective study demonstrates that serum interleukin-8 (IL-8) levels were significantly elevated in colon adenocarcinoma patients. Although diagnostic accuracy was moderate (area under the curve = 0.68), IL-8 remained an independent predictor. Prior evidence links IL-8 to survival and treatment response, suggesting diagnostic and prognostic utility. Larger multicenter studies are warranted to confirm and explore therapeutic implications. |
