Core Tip This retrospective study demonstrates that patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease experiencing comorbid depression and/or anxiety have a significantly faster decline in forced expiratory volume in one second compared with those without psychological comorbidities. These results emphasize that mental health status is an independent risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease progression and should be integrated into comprehensive disease management strategies.
