Key Words Hepatocellular carcinoma; Transmembrane emp24 domain-containing protein 4; Nuclear factor kappa-B/snail signaling pathway; Proliferation; Migration; Invasion
Core Tip Transmembrane emp24 domain-containing protein 4 (TMED4) was downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) SMMC-7721 cells compared with normal LO2 cells. Forced TMED4 overexpression significantly suppressed HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Mechanistically, TMED4 upregulated nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) p65 while downregulating snail, indicating inhibition of malignant phenotypes through modulation of the NF-κB/snail signaling axis. These findings identify TMED4 as a potential regulator of HCC aggressiveness and a candidate molecular target for future therapeutic exploration.
