| Core Tip |
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, arises from complex, spatially organized interactions between host genetics, immune responses, epithelial integrity, and the intestinal microbiota. Emerging multi-omics and spatial-omics technologies now enable high-resolution, tissue-context-preserved profiling of these processes, revealing disease-defining cellular niches and host-microbiome interactions. Artificial intelligence (AI) provides a critical framework for integrating high-dimensional datasets, uncovering non-linear relationships, and translating molecular complexity into clinically actionable insights. The convergence of multi-omics, spatial-omics, and AI holds strong promise for precision medicine in IBD, enabling improved disease stratification, identification of spatial biomarkers for progression and cancer risk, and the development of next-generation, non-animal disease models. |
