Key Words Type 2 diabetes mellitus; Nutritional status; Glycated hemoglobin; Dietary intake; Correlation
Core Tip This study identified a “low-calorie, high-fat” dietary paradox among patients with type 2 diabetes, characterized by excessive restriction of staple foods alongside excessive fat intake, which significantly impedes optimal glycemic control. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that insufficient dietary fiber intake and excessive fat intake were independent risk factors for poor glycemic control, regardless of age, disease duration, or treatment modality. These findings suggest that dietary guidance should shift from generalized calorie restriction toward precise macronutrient optimization, with particular emphasis on increasing dietary fiber diversity and correcting hidden fat intake to better align daily dietary habits and clinical goals.
