Core Tip |
This review examines the roles of cancer-associated adipocytes (CAAs) and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in remodeling of the tumor micro-environment (TME), presents evidence for a unique hematopoietic stem cell origin for both CAAs and CAFs, and discusses potential therapeutic implications of this novel origin. Studies highlighted herein emphasize the necessity of developing an understanding of the origins of cells in the TME and the importance of multipronged therapeutic targets directed at preventing both the incorporation and effects of stromal remodeling by the cells of the TME.
