| Core Tip |
This study examined survival and recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma patients who underwent transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) or not. We performed our analyses not only with all patients but also with propensity score-matched (PSM) pairs. Both analyses suggest adjuvant TACE donot reduce recurrence. We further showed that among PSM patients, adjuvant TACE does not appear to improve overall survival. These findings raise important questions about the efficacy of postoperative adjuvant TACE that future work should address in order to justify the use of this technique as well as identify the patient populations most likely to benefit from it. |
