Core Tip |
Lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1) is a biomarker that has been demonstrated to be related to atherosclerosis, insulin resistance, obesity and diabetes. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome. To date, no studies have investigated the association between serum LOX-1 and liver inflammation in biopsy-proven NAFLD patients. In this study, we have shown that the serum LOX-1 levels are correlated with the NAFLD histology scores, which might decrease the need for performing liver biopsy in NAFLD patients. |
