Core Tip Subepithelial lesions (SELs) of the upper gastrointestinal tract include a broader differential diagnosis, which can range from non-malignant tumors to lesions with malignant potential such as gastro-intestinal stromal tumors. The possibility of having a potentially malignant lesion may bring anxiety and discomfort to patients and doctors. Further investigation should be carried out for patients with high-risk lesions after risk stratification. This editorial presents the current evidence about the diagnostic management of SELs.
