Core Tip |
There is no pharmacological option available for treatment of carvedilol nonresponders in patients with portal hypertension. Addition of simvastatin could be an important pharmacological rescue therapy for carvedilol nonresponders. This study showed that addition of simvastatin to carvedilol non responders can increase overall response to around 80%, which is one of the best possible pharmacologically produced chronic response and it opens a new strategy for portal hypertension treatment. |
