Core Tip |
The normal human colon cell line, CRL.1970, can recapitulate oxidative stress-induced responses associated with inflammatory bowel disease following microbial challenge including enhanced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), inflammatory cytokines, and enhanced mitochondrial autophagic responses. Scavenging mitochondrial ROS inhibited mitochondrial morphologic changes and autophagy suggesting that CRL.1790 cells can be used to study oxidative events associated with intestinal inflammatory disorders. |
