Core Tip |
PIK3CA gene mutations have been associated with various prognoses in patients with different cancers. However, no large-scale study has examined the prognostic impact of PIK3CA gene mutations in Northwest Chinese esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, we quantified PIK3CA gene mutations via pyrosequencing technology using a non-biased database of 210 curatively resected ESCCs. It was found that PIK3CA gene mutations in Northwest Chinese ESCC are associated with favorable prognoses. It has been suggested that PIK3CA gene mutational status can have a potential role as a prognostic biomarker for ESCC. |
