| Core Tip |
Plasma adiponectin levels were significantly lower in knee osteoarthritis (OA) than controls. No significant associations were observed in the genotype distributions and allele frequencies of ADIPOQ +45T/G and +276G/T polymorphisms between knee OA subjects and controls. There was a significant association between genotype distribution of +276G/T polymorphism and OA severity. In addition, plasma adiponectin in OA subjects was seemingly lower than that in control subjects in GG genotype of +45T/G and +276G/T polymorphisms. Polymorphisms +45T/G and +276G/T of the ADIPOQ gene might not be responsible for the susceptibility to knee OA in the Thai population. |
