In general terms, gastrointestinal ultrasound examination principally comprises interrogation of the colon, mesentery and small intestine using both low-frequency and high-frequency probes. In addition to B-mode imaging, transperineal ultrasonography, elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography are useful adjuncts. |
