Core Tip |
We present a large, multi-institution retrospective cohort study which examines the independent association of Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR) status with perioperative outcomes during hip fracture surgery. We find that DNR status independently predicts overall rates of complications and mortality at 30 d without other clear sources of morbidity. Our conclusions place this work in the context of other literature on the outcomes for patients with DNR status during the perioperative period, exploring the data among other surgical populations and hypotheses for this effect. |
