Core Tip |
Primary colorectal choriocarcinoma is an extremely rare neoplasm and is usually associated with a poor prognosis. Only 13 cases of colorectal choriocarcinoma have previously been reported. Systemic chemotherapy is an important prognostic factor in these patients; however, there is no standard chemotherapeutic regimen for this tumor type. We encountered an extremely rare case of choriocarcinoma of the colon which was treated with mFOLFOX6 and bevacizumab based on the results of the culture drug sensitivity test (CD-DST), which suppressed aggressive tumor growth. This suggests that CD-DST may provide, at least in part, therapeutic insight for selecting appropriate antitumor agents for patients with colorectal choriocarcinoma. |
