Core Tip |
Acute myocardial infarction is the leading cause of death in the world. At least half of the resulting myocardial damage is associated with myocardial reperfusion. Myocardial reperfusion injury is associated with reactive oxygen species production and iron mobilization. Treatment with antioxidants such as ascorbate, N-acetylcysteine, and an iron chelator such as deferox¬amine, could prevent the development of this damage. |
