Core Tip |
Guidelines recommend that patients treated with non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants do not require coagulation monitoring and showed that routine coagulation tests generally do not provide an accurate assessment of effects and bleeding for rivaroxaban. However, our case indicates that in real-world situations, a small number of patients may develop changes in prothrombin time, international normalized ratio, and activated partial thromboplastin time with bleeding during rivaroxaban therapy. The results of literature review suggest that routine coagulation assays may be required in special population including elderly patients, particularly low-weight females or those with renal insufficiency during oral rivaroxaban. |
