Functional gastrointestinal disorders; Idiopathic bowel syndrome; Gut-brain axis; Microbiome-gut-brain axis; Machine learning; Artificial intelligence |
Core Tip |
The multifactorial nature of functional gastrointestinal disorders makes the diagnosis challenging. The identification of pathogenic microbiome signatures, combined with demographical, immunologic and neuroimaging findings can be encoded into machine learning algorithms which may help identify trends and patterns that can be studied to further our understanding of these disorders. These patterns can help determine the causality or can guide further research. |
