We did comprehensive bioinformatics analyses to identify the differentially expressed genes in Barrett's esophagus (BE) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) samples from two Gene Expression Omnibus datasets, and certain potential biomarkers were revealed in the progression of BE and EAC. After trans-regulatory network prediction, receiver operating characteristic curve evaluation and Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery annotation, an association between COL1A1 and EAC was found. Similarly, an association between MMP1 and BE was also predicted. Our study provided a novel perspective on the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of BE and EAC. |
