Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) of the thyroid gland is rare tumor with only 28 cases described in English literature. We made literature review of all described cases as well as described one new case. Etiology of LMS is still unknown, we present case with prior malignancy and radiotherapy with 2 cases previously described, we believe it should be taken under consideration as risk factor. Immunohistochemistry plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and we provided substantial discussion about differential diagnosis of thyroid tumors, alongside with our microscopic findings with that we believe we provided practical value for the daily practice of pathology. |
