| Core Tip |
This study demonstrated that both atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) vasodilate isolated human pulmonary artery rings and BNP acts as a partial agonist and inhibits the effects of ANP. The finding that addition of BNP inhibits the effects of ANP suggests that BNP does act as a partial agonist and could be advancing the progression to decompensated heart failure. |
