Core Tip |
Our findings derived from rat models for treating the critical sized mandibular bone defects with platelet rich fibrin (PRF) membranes seeded with allogeneic bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) confirmed the in-vivo anti-inflammatory effects of allogenic BMSCs and indicated that they have beneficial syngeneic effects to the PRF membranes in promoting and accelerating the healing of critically sized mandibular defects. The routine and special histological and immunohistochemical staining demonstrates for the first time that experimentally treated critically sized mandibular defects with the combination therapy of PRF membranes and BMSCs increased the amount and the rate of the newly formed bone and decreased the amount of granulation tissue with the reduction in the number of the inflammatory cell infiltrates. |
