Core Tip |
Incidence of abdominal (AM) and retroperitoneal metastases (RM) in patients with primary extremity soft tissue sarcoma has been reported to be as high as 12.1%, depending on the histological subtypes and screening methods used. Patients undergoing metastasectomy seem to have a clear survival benefit. Consequently, regular abdominal check-ups with abdominal computed tomography-scans, ultrasonography or even whole-body-magnetic resonance imaging are preferable in order to detect AM/RM at an early, potentially resectable stage. |
