Cases have been reported for malignancies in patients of β-thalassemia major. However rare case reports have been reported for malignancies in patients of β-thalassemia-intermedia as it is a non-transfusion dependent anemia. Physicians should have high index of suspicion to diagnose malignancies in patients with β-thalassemia-intermedia. |
