Core Tip |
Gut microbiota dysbiosis plays an important role in the progression of ethanol-induced liver injury, but an effective microbe-based therapy is lacking. Our study screened an ethanol-resistant strain of Pediococcus pentosaceus as a potential probiotic. Preliminary results indicated that the new strain of Pediococcus pentosaceus modulated the composition of the gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acid metabolism to protect against ethanol-induced liver injury in a mouse model. |
