Core Tip |
Cardiac amyloidosis is a disease with a poor prognosis. However, in recent years, specific therapies have been developed and if they are implemented in early stages of the disease, they are associated with an improvement in the quality of life and survival. The use of cardiac magnetic resonance, echocardiography, computed tomography and nuclear imaging techniques allows an early diagnosis. It is possible through more accessible and simple measurements such as echocardiographic strain or through the assessment of newer parameters such as the myocardial contraction fraction. Likewise, the alterations of multiple parameters such as the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion or the uptake at the basal level of gadolinium identify patients with higher risk of mortality. In this review, we define in detail the implication of each imaging techniques in Cardiac amyloidosis |
