Core Tip |
Adipose-derived stem cells are adult multipotent stem cells with great therapeutic potential for a variety of diseases. Donor’s intrinsic characteristics, such as sex, health conditions and age, have been claimed to be one of the main factors responsible for affecting the quality and the performance of these cells. Regarding donor age, the literature shows many conflicting observations. Here, we evaluated the proliferation and differentiation potential of adipose-derived stem cells isolated from lipoaspirates from elderly and young female donors. Our results demonstrated that age does not seem to significantly affect the cell division or adipogenic or osteogenic potential of these cells. |
