Core Tip |
Pneumonia caused by Leptospira interrogans is rare but mostly life-threatening, which is an atypical manifestation of Leptospirosis syndrome. In the early phase, the non-specific symptoms of Leptospira pneumonia often lead clinicians to make misdiagnosis of influenza or other illness. We herein report a 54-year-old man presented with cough, fever and dyspnea and was misdiagnosed as influenza pneumonia initially, but was finally confirmed as Leptospira infection with help of next generation sequencing. This case may remind clinicians to pay more attention to possible exposure history and emphasize values of next generation sequencing during management of infections with unknown causes. And we hope this case could enhance the understanding of uncommon Leptospira pneumonia, which should not be neglected in clinical practice. |
